Bringing audiences to independent cinema in Europe via digital & social media

Located on the Venetian isle of San Servolo, the European Summer University gathering of Arthouse Cinema professionals will take place for the 9th year running, on the 27th August to the 2nd of September.

The event, which includes 55 participants representing 26 countries, aptly coincides with the Venice Film Festival.  Representatives of CICAE will form a jury at the festival to judge the coveted Art Cinema Award.

This year's Summer University has a distinctly future-forward focus.  As some 4000 art cinemas dot the continent, in contrast to the heydays of the 50s, 60s and 70s, the challenges facing upcoming art house managers in often disparate networks will come under the spotlight.

With the title, "ART CINEMA = ACTION + MANAGEMENT", the focal point of the gathering aims to pass on practical methods, tools, contacts and ideas to equip both seasoned and new art cinema managers with the means to face a challenging marketplace in order to continue to promote art house cinema in all its glory.

Above all, the event is global in scope. With the opportunity of international professionals to network, collaborate and share ideas, the International Confederation of Art Cinemas moves forward in its aim of defending the art house cinema movement in order to enhance alternative cinema programming, to train professionals in such a diverse and burgeoning industry and to promote the cultural importance that the art cinema institution represents.

Support your local Cinema, for its part, wishes the participants a most fascinating and productive encounter and naturally lends its full support.
